Ask Not What Your Country Can Do For You, Ask What You Are Required To Do For Your Country

It’s almost like we are punishing and sentencing our youth.  Thanks for the vote, now get to work:

The Obama Administration will call on Americans to serve in order to meet the nation’s challenges. President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in underserved schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps. Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year. Obama will encourage retiring Americans to serve by improving programs available for individuals over age 55, while at the same time promoting youth programs such as Youth Build and Head Start.

Is this argument similar to the one that the Republicans have on taxation? Give people more money and the more they’ll give to charity? That sure worked out well over the past eight years…

  2. Um…yeah…

    No.

That might be the worst correlation ever. Being required to do community service and lower taxes? Does anything make sense in your world?

And giving to charity? Like Biden giving $3,500 last year? Way to dig deep Joe.

I sure like that a lot better than “have the government take all the money and then force people at gunpoint to clean the shitters at nursing homes for free.”

  4. Required to do community service?

    Screw that.

  5. EW says:

If you want required community service, get a DUI

  6. Doug says:

The more crafty plantation owners used to refer to slavery as “required community service.”

  7. DumbAss Tanker says:

EW, I see my faith in you has not been misplaced. Welcome to the Dark Side.
